some info on the changed options for 04
went and did some configuring this weekend at my dealer. No pricing on 04s yet, probably in late Aug/Sept. Netstar is taking orders, and my dealer has slots in August and onward for 04s
drivetrain - the E in the US is now in 4 main platform types: 320, 500, 55AMG and now 4matic (available on 320 or 500) The 500 4matics are supposedly going to be tough to get (limited production), certainly compared to demand in the northeast, where 320 4matics should be relatively available
interior - 2 new colors/fabrics on the E500 and E500 4matic: charcoal nappa and stone(?) nappa.
exterior - looks like they eliminated some of the blues, but still have platinum, capri and midnight. Plus the new Granite, but no swatches yet.
option packages.
they unbundled the sunroof and the Harman Kardon stereo. The conventional sunroof is part of most packages.
sport is now called 'appearance'.
on the seating packages, they look like they're pushing drive-dynamic hard. Most packages that include active-ventilated *also* include drive-dynamic. Bleh. Overkill in the northeast in my view.
premium package is probably the most loaded. Includes DVD NAV, 6cd changer, sunroof, harman kardon, active ventilated seats, drive dynamic seats.
There's the lighting package (old E1 - bixenons and headlight washers)
plus a few others...I'll write more when I get another look at netstar. I wasn't really taking careful notes this time.

Option choices seem actual, spoke with my dealer on 7/30 and placed a tentative order for a Sept build with Oct delivery. Still waiting on pricing. Didn't go into new color choices - repeated brilliant silver with charcoal leather. Added command & power trunk closer. To match existing equipment entertainment & sun roof packages came into play.

Hopefully pricing will be available by early Sept. As I have an August 12 build date, which should get the car to NY by the beginning of Sept.

My E500 is being built in the last decade of August. Originally, it was going to be first decade, but it did get switched for some reason. There did seem to be a lot of other orders on the list for E320's though, that had earlier build dates, so it does seem like the E320 gets producted first.
