Taking trip today-NAV question

hey guys, i'll be leaving on a 200 or so mile trip later today and was messing around with nav. It seems like it has plotted a longer way than what mapquest gave me. Is there a way, once dest. has been entered to see the actual driving directions instead of just looking at the map? I would like to compare the two routes. I thought I saw this but couldn't find it now. I called teleaid and they didn't know. She said they were going to go out and try it in a car and call me back.

If I recall correctly, have the map on the screen and push the info soft button. the list might also appear after pushing the SERV button. Sometimes the route will change depending on the option you choose, tolls/no tolls...for example.

Yes, here's what you do....

Select your destination.. and click on Begin Route Guidance. Once it has created your route.. click on the TOP LEFT softbutton.. it will be labeled as INFO. That brings up your address you're heading to.... the DISTANCE to be traveled.. and your ETA at the destination. Click ROUTEthat will bring up a "overall" map of your route.. showing Point A and Point B. Now, if you look on the left side.. it has a Softbutton labeled LIST. If you click it.. it will show you one direction at a time.. and the distance for each along the way.

I have found the INFO screen is updated in real time.. so you can at a glance ON THE WAY.. click it to see remaining miles and your updated ETA as you drive.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I was just coming back to say that I found it. I knew I had seen it. Interesting, the route the nav gave me is about 55 miles longer than mapquest. If I go with mapquest I get to hear my wife make fun of me about all the grief the nav situation caused and now i'm not even using it Guess i'll drive the extra 55 miles!!

Can you ask for a "reroute"? The BMW nav does have a button for reroute...never tried it.

I had thought that you could get a couple of options for routes.

did you compute on the nav with different preferences? toll/no toll for example. It might make a difference.
