Question Tires on NAV Replacements

Getting my replacement tomorrow.
Saw it at the dealer today though and noticed it had
Goodyear Eagles on it.

Did anyone else get these?
In general, is MBZ starting to use Goodyears instead of Conti's or Michelins?

Let you know how they feel tomorrow!

The '98 model year had Goodyear Eagle LS tires on about half the deliveries, they wore very rapidly and were noisy after about 10k of their 17k useful life. I had a set.

There is an Eagle RS-Asymmetrical that wears well and was not noisey. I had those on an '01 C320.

Yeah, it depends heavily on which GoodYear's they are. Some of them are pretty crappy.

It's funny. My pre-NAV had Conti's and I inquired with my salesman (who left to another dealership BEFORE getting my NAV car) said a SWAP would be NO PROBLEM... after getting a new salesman to finish up my NAV replacement.. he told me most of the E's they had been getting in the last few months have been coming with Michelin's.. but told me a "swap" was ILLEGAL and prohibited by the Federal Gov't.

Anyways.. sure enough in about 200 ZILLION E"s that they had delivered in recent months with Michelin's.. mine's was the first in as many months with Conti's.... WHAT THE HEY????

Yes, I have the CH95's again. Although they seem more quiet and isolated that the previous issue. My Sport 2 is actually USABLE now (I can have it on with my wife and son in the car without illiciting any complaints). Before it was Comfort.. or nothing.

I'm picking up my E500 at the factory in October. On previous cars picked up
at the factory I have been able to have the tires exchanged for under $100.
My question is which brand should be my first choice? In the past I have
always had them changed to Michelin but sometimes I feel they are overated.

Man, they are still putting CH95's on their cars... Remember, that those tires seem to wear fast, so I would imagine that brand new that they would perform pretty well.

Anyone have any real evidence to support the legality of swapping tires at the dealership? I've heard this excuse a few times before from other members, and I'm wondering if any truth is in that statement.

Picked up the replacement vehilce today !

It has Goodyear Eagle LS on them.
per Goodyear's website they are the the quietest riding in their class.

For what it's worth my brother had them as standard on his Lexus GS430

My replacement came with Conti's again. As per my sig. below they will be used for winter. My '00 E430 came with Goodyear Eagle F1's.

I picked up my NAV replacement car last Saturday, it has Michelin Pilot MXM4 tires. I just came back from a 900 mile trip with the car today. It does feel better than my first car but some of that may be due to the new softer settings of the Air Suspension. You can now use Sport 2 on bumpy roads.

Most of my trip was plagued with heavy rain but the car handled well. The NAV was used many times during the trip, it is very accurate but not as easy to use as the voice activated - touch screen NAV in my wife's Acura.

i just had a question for the people who have picked up thier rplacements....i noticed that the knob on the right has the up, down, and side to side arrows on the buttons, but between those buttons, there are 4 other buttons, with lines on them, does anyone know what they are used for? all E-classes have them, but on the regular E, there are no lines on them, and they arent buttons, thanks in advance

YES JUST PICKED MY UP TODAY AND HAD IT EXPLAINED !

They let you scroll the map diagonally !!
Which is a very nice feature when you are trying to look at your overall route plan.

BTW only glitch with NAV so far, is that it took about 15 minutes of driving until it
figured out where I was. Until then it shows you in the general vicinty but "off road". Dealer said that this is a "one time" synch-up with the GPS system

I have noticed a BIG change in the firmness of the AIRMATIC settings on my replacement E500. Now, its hard to tell the difference in any of the settings. I used to drive my original E500 in Sport 1 and now Sport 2 doesn't seem as firm as the old Sport 1 setting. Was this a running modification earlier in the year? My original car was delivered 10-30-02.
