MP3 from the HK system

Can the new HK audio play MP3 music from CD player or from the CD changer?

seriously doubt it. Might be able to retrofit aftermarket changer that has MP3 capability.

CD player

My H-K player plays CD-R's derived form mp3's just fine! What is the problem the other posters are having? Does you player reject or fail to load them or do they just not play? I do know that many homemade CD labels render the CD too thick and they won't load.

I don't think that everyone was trying to play burned CD-R's. Even if they are derived from MP3s, because the MP3s are still converted to AIFF formant, they have no problem playing the MBNZ changer. What I believe everyone was referring to was the ability to play MP3 cd's which don't convert the files to AIFF, allowing a lot more files to be on one CD. While standard audio CD's play fine, MP3 CD's are not supported by OEM equipment.

So does that mean if I can burn a CD-R from my computer of mp3 files, and then close the CD so it can be written again, the HK system can play these mp3 files?

Yes, but you are not listening to an "MP3"

99% of people who burn CDs to listen to in his/her car are not listening to actual MP3's. The music is stored on your computer as an MP3, but when burned, converts it to a different format that all CD players can regonize. and you can only get 70-80 minutes on. Most CD burning software does this conversion automaticly. if you simply do a DIRECT COPY of MP3s to your CD-R, then your CD player will not be able to recognize that format.

Your burning software is converting the format, thats how you can play it back.
