Side Mirrors

My dad just got a W211 E320 this May. Desert Silver with tan interior. Loves it. I love it (even if I do love my BMW). Better than his old CLK320 (or my moms cab for that matter). Ok, now to the two questions he has been bugging me about.

1) Why the hell do the side mirrors not fold in. And he's not even talking about powered like the X5 or my moms OLD 400 SEL (Last Gen). He's talking about manual, like almost every other car on the planet. They don't fold in unless he's crazy, and I was too afraid to push that hard. Anyone have a clue?

2) On both the CLKs he had the ability to choose whether he wanted the steering wheel radio controls to scroll presents or seek channels. In the W211 he can't choose and can only seek. Anyone know a remedy or if this is standard? Thanks.

The simple answer to both questions:

1. The mirrors do not fold. Don't force them.

2. You can't select the pre-sets from the steering wheel.

Both have been cussed and discussed many times on this forum.
Sadly, both answers are correct.

And for added fun you can ask dealer about the radio pre-set issue and you can watch their eyes "scroll up" as well. Though this issue has been beaten to death here, my understanding is that there will not/can not be a software fix for this.

etenn is right

it is true for US built. it is an option in Asia or other countries which provides folded side mirrors. (those countries do have parking issue, not US but I believe you can order the parts and install them by your own.)

the preset radio is another known bug but I think mb will fix it with new software.
