I think this is a case of a few apples spoiling the whole bunch. Nothing is wrong with Conti tires in general, per say, but the Conti tires that have been put on many MB's over the years, the CH95's in particular, are pretty crappy tires.

greeeat, mine are contitouring ecoplus 225/55 R16 95H CH 95 (sarcastiic). BTW these tires look bigger than the ones on my original car. Did the original E320 come with 15 inch instead of 16 inch tires?

If you are really dissatisfied with your Conti's call them directly, the company may offer to swap you out of the tires for the new conti 2's if you pay for the labor etc. I know Michelin will do this sort of thing...very good to the customer!

Why does everyone dislike continental tires?

I had my dealer change out my tires to Michelins when I bought my car. It wasn't that I disliked Continentals, but rather that I had been on Michelins for the last 24 years and KNOW I love them!

Michelin's always seem to sell for a premium over the same size/class of Conti's or Pirelli's, so from a financial perspective it's better to have the Michelins if you have a choice when buying a car. I do think the new Conti Sport Contact 2's must be a very good tire or MB would not have equipped so many of the new E55's with them as muanufactures normally put the better tires on their newest high performance models. I've owned many many high end cars that have come with all the major brands and I have tried even more but I keep coming back to Michelin's as my favorites

I had conti's on my CLK and they were the noisiest, fastest wearing tires I've ever had. Not only that, for some reason they were rubbing part of the car due to the shape of the tire. I know it was a conti thing cause no other brand I've had has done this. I bought cheapo Falkens and they've been a much better tire than the conti's (Sport Contact 2). Maybe I got a bad set, but I won't spend the money to find out as every other brand I've tried has been better.

Michelin's are known for producing a very round tire and that helps alot with balance as an out of round tire can be a problem and that's important to me.
