Nice work mate! Im just wondering, the tip is just hanging now or is it welded or or is there a rubber connector attached to the chassis? Cause Im thinking of doin the same thing since ive already got the X pipe, but my rear bumper does not have the cut out.

No never leave any exhaust component hanging. Like the muffler, you weld on a round metal support (to the straight piped section) shaped in an L that fits into a rubber grommet. This is how your current muffler is held in place.

Looks good. Deleting my mufflers has crossed my mind before, but I just never got around to it. My only complaint is crush bent piping But its not like youre doing this for performance so makes no difference anyway

That sounds great. I'm guessing that only a 550 could plull this off. a 350 would sound tinny.

Thanks for the kind responses everyone.

You won't notice any difference in crush bent versus mandrel bent piping this far back in the exhaust system. If anything slight reduction in inside dimensions will help maintain backpressure for a naturally aspirated engine so you want it in such an application.

As for the 350... that's an interesting question. I honestly have no idea how it would sound as it's definitely a gruntier V6 but yeah not sure... someone with a 320/350 should try it to see

Im thinking about muffler deletes on my 03 E500, any tips or suggestions?
Also, did you do a j-pipe on both exhaust pipes or only on one side?

I did it on both sides, and don't have any suggestions that haven't been said before. Just find a shop that will fabricate all of this for you for less than $200, shouldn't cost any more to do this type of work.

I'm probably making more complicated than it should be. My exhaust is hidden under the bumper, so all i could do is just cut off the mufflers. I wouldn't have to get a straight pipe.

You can do that as a very cheap way of achieving the same thing, but be careful where your exhausts vent and the temperature there. You own a Benz now man just do it right, straight pipe it so you can have the very simple resonator on the straight pipe section to reduce drone and keep the nice luxury car feel inside.

sounds great

so each tip side has a j-pipe welded back into the exhaust pipe? ...and one pipe extended with a closed end?

Hey guys I read all your questions comments and experience with the muffler delete and this is the problem I'm having. I bought an exhaust kit that came with x pipes hi flow mufflers with dual output and I also took out my secondary cats and resonator. The cats closer to the engine that are linked with the computer are still in. I'm not getting the sound I want out of the car so do you guys recommend muffler delete with JU pipe? Would that be to loud?also would any good shop know how to do the JU pipe install?

Depends where you live on the shop, maybe someone will know a good place in that area. If all else fails, a friend of mine got his M3s exhaust done at Midas and they (surprisingly) did a very good job, albeit a little expensive.

What are you wanting out of the sound? Deeper, louder, tone-change?

Guys, what about a happy medium by only deleting one of the two mufflers? That way, it's not as loud. The question is, what side to do as that side will be louder.

As I told you in the other thread, I can't tell if you're serious or not.

sounds mad bro! ive straight piped my c250 TD and it definitely sounds alot better than it used to. no v8 though. But I am in the proscess of converting a clk320 to a 500 and am defiantly going to straight pipe it. Im going to mod a w210 exhaust to hopefully fit the clk. do you know what the minimum pipe diameter has to be for a 500 to not cause too much back pressure? because with my turbo diesel we dropped the tip down from 2.5" to 2" and just that half inch on the tip caused too much back pressure. cheers man

I deleted the mufflers from my E class 350 4Matic, it sounds okay. I was wonder if I take the resonator out and put in an x pipe will it make a difference?any suggestions?

It will definitely help. Are you trying to make it as loud as possible?

its sounds really good but now I’m thinking of adding the c63 mufflers to get that growling sound . What do you think?
