cruise control question

I set the cruise with speedo needle at 60 mph.... when the cruise is engaged, the digital display says 62 mph. is this offset by design ?

thanks in advance....

when you set it as 60, you were at 62....did it stay at 62. mostly, it does fluctuate 1 to 2 mph. but then it should go down after a while.

I set it exactly 60 on the speedo.... as soon as I engage the cruise lever, the digital display says 62 while the speed still shows 60....

no matter what speed I set for cruise on the speedo, the digital display pops up says +2 mph above set point.

I'm a bit ****..... if I set at 60, I expect the speedo and digital display to match.

anyone else experiencing this offset?

Try switching your display to show the speed in digits, then set it. It may be just your perspective on the display. Mine sets reasonably near to the analog, and as bmms8 says, it will fluctuate a little bit. It also sets then falls away a bit as he says. Likewise any pressure on the accelerator at set may influence the set point. After this you can work on the clock, and it's pointers and movement. :p

I usually use the digital display for speed and set the cruise from that. It does seem to set at a mile or 2 higher most of the time. I just tap the stalk down once or twice to get the speed setting I want....usually not 60 mph

so far, no reponses have helped me. let's try a different angle:

for those who have the digital speed display turned "on", what is the delta between the analog speedo needle and the digital display? mine has a constant difference of 2 mph.... the speedo and digital diplay of my C32 AMG were dead on each other.... just as I think should be the case for this E500.

taking her in for several common problems this friday, thought I would get this corrected as well....

mine is always about 1 mph off (higher). sometimes it toggles between say 61 and 60 every other min. if i set it to 60. i would think that both readings are reporting from the same input and your digital reading is the most actuate and the dial has a fine adjustment. i would check with the dealer.

for a 60k car, the term **** to me doesn't apply. you should expect what you pay for.

This is unacceptable. I would demand a replacement '04.

i dont think its a joke. but i think there is something wrong, after driving around with it, the speedo matches the exact speed i set, i think its actually more accurate than the pre nav car, hopefully your dealer can fix it
