The right headlamp on my E63 was flickering so I took it into my local dealer. He said the headlamp igniter needs to be replaced and since it's part of the entire headlamp assembly, that I'd need to buy a new Xenon assembly for $1850 ($1200 parts and $650 labor).
Is this true, do you need to buy the whole assembly or is there a way to just replace the igniter. If not, any recommendations on how to save on the $1200 assembly?

Igniter, balast and control unit are available as separate parts for the 2006 bi xenons. Even in the new ones igniter is not a part of the assembly but of the bulb. Bad dealer?

Thanks. Hope not, but maybe. The dealer is Park Place Mercedes in Dallas. I'm no longer under warranty so taking it to a non-dealer later in the week, will report back.

Anybody recommend a good shop in Dallas?
