HELP

Just got a call from my trusty mechanic..My 2006 E350 was at his shop while he was looking at a transmission concern, could not find anything but kept the car over night. This morning, his first man in was having coffee when he heard a sound like a crash then a car alarm...he went out and there was my car tilted to the left front end...He said the front coil spring broke and the front fender was resting on the tire...he said he has never seen anything like this, has photos, the whole 9 yards and to replace the left and right front coils will cost about $1,300...

Any one ever hear of anything like this? I guess there is nothing I can do but pay...car has 110,000 miles...

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Well the really good news is that the spring failed at rest----just imagine what would have happened if the spring had failed going 70 on the Garden State. Talk about the S'ts

Everything has a probability of failure vs time.

I have no idea what the projected failure rate for the spring through time is, however in your case it must have been 100 percent!!
