Akebono Ceramic v. StopTech Pads
I know I've had a lot of questions about brakes in the past and the general consensus was that people liked Akebono Ceramic pads, but I recently read a review from a Mercedes SLK owner that stated he felt they had about 10% less stopping power than stock pads. My priority is stopping power, I want something definitely above OEM, followed by less noise and brake dust. On the same site StopTech Pads were rated higher, and they were listed as "Performance Street" whereas the Akebonos were rated as "Premium." Any advice on this?
Also any nice slotted and cross-drilled rotors that look/perform similar to the E63 AMG Brake kit? Thanks.

I have Akebono ceramics pads on my E350 and I agree with the reviews saying they have about 10% less stopping power than OEM pads. I've had to brake hard a couple of times and the Akebonos performed OK for me. Also there's no brake dust.

Thanks for the response. Good that there's no brake dust but the lessened stopping power concerns me, I really want to find a junk yard and pull an AMG brake kit off an E63 but I know it won't fit because of the spindle, and there's no information on modifying it for 4-Matic. So now I'm just trying to find a solution with stock specs and more braking power. Need advice on this =\

Oh really? That's not good at all. Darn need to find a performance pad that won't squeak and minimal brake dust. Thanks for steering me away from those. I don't mind if they're more expensive but something like an HPS Hawk without the squealing and brake dust would be great.
