E500
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I just picked up an used E500 with the phone kit built in and the V60c. I noticed my V60i will charge, but it turns it off when I insert it into the cradle and the car doesnt recognize the phone. So Im guessing I have to use the older V60c that came with the car. I also noticed that the V60c is one where the antenna pulls out, does this mean I have to activate it through Verizon? Or I have to go through the dealer? Im a current Verizon user, can I just change the ESN numbers and start using the phone? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The reason youe v60i shuts down is becuase it is not the 'Mercedes' branded Motorola. The Mercedes units have a different firmware than the non mercedes units.
This was done to keep people thatwant the integration to buy the Mercedes branded Motorolas.
If you have a v60c, then that is indeed a CDMA unit. You can activate it at any CDMA cellular provider in your area.
