piezo electric diesel injector part number?

My OM642 is acting up again and I think it's the injectors. I've heard rumors that they cost $500/piece (and I should probably replace all 6 at once). Anyone know if there's a better non-OEM solution for replacement?

How about the OEM part number so I can at least try and get an idea of prices..

If you can remove them and have some downtime on the car, there are places that can clean them out and rebuild them for a fraction of the cost of replacing them with new ones.

Places that you can have them shipped to? What sort of life extension am I looking at there, is it just kicking the can another 10k miles down the road?

To be honest, I'm not even sure what goes bad in them, any ideas?

I seriously doubt that a proper rebuild is a 10k 'band aid'. I've heard good things about these guys from a TDI forum.

You might check them out.

There is a very simple OM642,646 and 648 injector test. You will know very quickly whether you have a bad injector---the issue is finding an indy with the tools and experience to preform the work.

Alternatively, what the hell change em all out!!

PS_____This is also a double post from the diesel section and the OP dosent know if he has an injector problem---not tested--this is a fishing expedition!

Why yes Plutoe, it was a fishing expedition.. This is a car forum, what the hell else do you expect to go on here? The car is now in the hands of my indy, I will post results when I have them. All of the readings coming out of the injectors were fine, BTW, certainly within spec. Thanks for your valuable input.
