Exclamation ESP issue sudden brake failure

Hi all,

I have been driving an MB E320 2004 since last year, had some minor issues bu other than that had an awesome experience.

I had the check brake lights on for a couple of months and took it to a local mechanic and he fixed the pads and stuff put new ones and said everything was fine, and Yes the braking if fine and better than before but the warning light dint go away and he said may be a sensor issue and should not be a big deal.

So I neglected it but just yesterday, while I was driving suddenly there was a RED warning saying ESp malfunction and reducing braking effect restart engine.

DURING THIS MY BRAKES COMPLETELY FALIED. i was not able to apply any brakes. had to slow down and pull over and put to PARK gear and then stop and start the engine and then it worked fine
with out any issue.

what might be the issue. I would greatly appreciate any help . Please after that incident I am kind of tensed what might happen if the issue repeats, please help

Get a diagnostic the log will say what cause the esp/sbc to turn off. Hard to diagnose and too dangerous to risk happening again so I wouldn't just ignore it or change random parts.

Well now it's going to get expensive------if your mechanic did not follow the procedures in DAS Xentry to relieve the system and clear the faults before and after the pad job you may well have damaged the ESP control module!!

You now have a situation where you go to the dealer or find someone with a copy of DAS Xentry, because that is the only way you are going to clear the faults and isolate the problem----Do not go back to your buddy---anyone who says to not worry about faults is the place you go to get your car washed not fixed!!

I'm not inclined to think the pad change damaged the sbc the mechanic probably just didn't replace the wear sensor. Anyway probably not a good place to get future jobs done.
