E320 2004
Hey!. New guy on the MB block.

Hey guys i recently bought a MB E320 2004. I love it, Its exactly what i needed for my young family life.

Ive ran into a couple issues though. First the wife ran over a curb ( dont ask )
It Ripped the bracket holding the strut bar right off. 700$ in the drain, still has a lil sound.

NOW im screwed. Car wont even turn on. I put my key in the ignition and it actually unlocks the steering wheel, but cranks non stop. Literally crank crank crank. All the buttons work on the key too.

Any one able to give me some advice?

Thanks for the response/advice, but what do you mean ? "Battery on the boot"?

Check the car battery, should be on the boot/trunk. The terminals may be a bit lose.

Crank Position Sensor. If that's not it, check if you have fuel pressure.

So listen to this, I tried some starter fluid yesterday and It turns on! 2 seconds late, off

I do not hear the fuel pump turn on at all.
I used the search and found a Key problem with these cars, but question: wouldnt that not let it turn on at all with the starter fluid?

Can it still be the crank sensor now that it turned on with starter fluid?

The Crank Pos Sensor (CPS) usually maks the car crank w/ no start when the car has warmed up. If you let is sit & cool down a bit,it will start. The CPS are an item that fail unexpectedly. .. failure is usually preceded by a period of time where the car occasionally has a very slight, almost imperceptible miss or stumble.

Check the CPS or just have the car scanned by a local Mercedes-Benz dealership with STAR Diagnostics that should tell you right there.

I am having the same problem with my 2004 CLK 500... it is most likely the CAM sensor... I would simply replace it... (you can pick one up online for like $50)...

also, for the batter in the boot thing... our cars have two batteries. One small one under the hood as a backup, and the main huge mother in the trunk... it is under the trunk, where the spare tire is on the right hand side.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few hours and let the systems reset as well as let the car cool down. If that doesn't help... then just buy the CAM sensor.

Feel free to PM me if you want. I have been over my car 4,382 times and pretty much know her inside & out now.
