2004 E320 WAGON TRUNK WON'T OPEN WITH FOB

2023 E450 ALL-TERRAIN WAGON
2004 E320 WAGON TRUNK WON'T OPEN WITH FOB
Hi- I have an E320 wagon (my husband drives this MB Now) and the trunk will not open with the key fob.

If you try you hear a noise likes it's trying to open but nothing happens. You can open/close it manually.

Any easy-to-try suggestions before taking car in for service & is it a problem to open/close manually?
