considering buying 2004 E320 wagon - feedback?
My parents had a series of Mercedes wagons when I was a kid, so I have ridden in the 3rd row seat many times. My impression is that these wagons are very safely constructed and 2004 isn't THAT old. My father says that we should be wary of maintenance and repair costs, which add up very quickly with Mercedes. How much work do you think I should expect a car like this to require?
The dealer selling it isn't a Benz dealer, and he said that there is no bluetooth hands-free phone system or navigation system installed (though there are buttons for them on the dash and steering wheel in the photos). I'm wondering how hard it is to upgrade. I see that MB offers the "V-60 BT" kit for this car - does this work for every E320 model? And the dealer said I could probably buy a navigation system but it would cost around $3000 - $4000. Is there another way? And finally, would it be possible to configure it so that I can play music from an MP3 player?
Thanks!!!

I have E500 Wagon with over 155,000 miles and it's been rock solid. I do all of the work myself, so no labor cost. You have to shop for parts. My local dealer inflates prices by a good margin. They wanted $141 for the center speaker. I found a dealer in NC that sells OEM parts online and I bought it for $80 or so. My advice is to go for a V8 as they are built to last. Also, try to find a 5-speed instead of 7-speed transmission.
