2009 Bluetec Reset DTC Codes?
Hi, Got a code for the #2 glow plug and replaced it. Little coil light went out but "check engine" light still on. My OBD erased the code but it came right back. Do I need a special tool to reset? Will it reset by itself after several trips? Thanks, Roger

What is the fault for the CEL? Is it a glow plug fault?-----Did you replace with a Benz glow plug or BS Billies?
There are no drive cycle requirements for glow plugs!!

Went to Oreilly Auto and their $300 scanner could not read the codes. I had already ordered the Autel MaxiScan MS509 ($44) from Amazon. After figuring out that my car only talks to a scanner when idling, I got my codes. Could not erase the codes with the engine running but the scanner was smart enough to tell me that, so, codes checked, car repaired, engine light off. Repair was simple, I pulled the offending glow plug, checked it's resistance and it's glow with a 12V input, cleaned it and the connector, and reinstalled. I actually swapped the #2 with the #4 to see if the fault would migrate indicating a bad glow plug but it did not.
