Ok so ive had my 04 e500 for around 2 years now(has 102k on it), kept up with all maintenance and recently got my SBC fixed under warranty. Ive noticed recently (past 3 weeks) that the transmission has been shifting rougher than usual, especially from 1st to 2nd. Last week i noticed a faint burning smell coming from under the hood on the drivers side. Today while driving i noticed the CEL came on so when i get home i pop the hood and see a fluid leak (not sure if oil but probably) somewhere near the oil filler.I know its a leak because i wiped the area clean before driving again. It seems to be what was spotting under my car also(thought it was from the A/C).I have no idea what this could be or if its related to the trans and was hoping you guys can help me out, i wont be able to get the car scanned until friday so im clueless until then.

 

Get it to a shop with a scanner to check the codes and also have transmission serviced asap.
