As I and others have indicated, some of the 2003 W211's (don't know about the '04) have had problems from a brake pedal squeak. I believe this has been reported on earlier models as well. The squeak is best heard INSIDE the car and when it is cold, i.e., just starting out and sounds like a "poink". At any rate, just had the car in for the fix and thus far it looks like it took care of the problem. If anyone needs info. about the fix, I'll give the part nos., etc.

only five weeks after repair, I'm "enjoying" the brake squeak all over again

Unlike the forst poster my brake squeal is best heard when the window are down and with moderate braking when the brakes are at normal operating temps...it's very annoying and I did not have this problem with my 03.

What did the dealer do to attempt a fix?

I am going in next week to have my Service B done and squeaky breaks checked. Could you post or send over what they did.

421640 Brake operating unit (BOU) removed,
421641 veh. with SBC, replace, R & R
421354 Hydaulic brake system, bleed

With test drive, "found groaning wistly like sound when activating brake pedal." Removed replaced SBC brake system operating unit air bleeded brake system w/DAS machine inspected brake system as per DAS MACH..... "Erased DTC, S and verified repairs found compliant and not present any more"



This is the essence of what was done....? makes sense? Hopefully problem will not recurr.

The squeak is back as of yesterday. I'm bummed....
