Replacement E500 Seemed Sluggish - Now Seems Fine

My last topic on MBWorld was about the fact that my replacement E500 seemed more sluggish than my first E500. After a few weeks of driving more aggressively than I did during the first 1,000 miles, throttle response seems much more quick. I am very satisfied, although I am still mystified as to how the adaptive transmission works. What I mean is, it would be nice to know what one needs to do over what period of time to change the adaptive transmission profile for driving style. Has anyone seen anything on this? The owner's manual has scant info on this.

I've noticed it too. I've put on about 1200 miles, and I too thought it felt very sluggish for a V8 engine. After normal driving, it has become much more athletic. The slow starts that took a lot of pedal action to make anything happen now require a lot less. Overall, it is more agresive, which is what I like. Really, since it is an electronic transmission, it should have a control to vary the response manually.

Legacy, how do you like the pilot sport A/S? I just ordered a set for the winter as my SO-3's had to come off. I had heard of some who did not like this tire on the E.

I like them just fine. They do not seem either harsher or noisier than the Continentals that came with my first E500.

I was always under the impression that the adaptive transmission "resets" itself everytime the car is started.
