By this time tomorrow, I will have taken the plunge on either an E320 or a 530i. I've been a BMW man for 6 years, but I'm leaning heavily towards the E320. I've spent hours staring at the 530, and I can't stop thinking it looks like a Beemer in drag, or a really nice Pontiac (with that big front plastic bumper that doesn't have any trim pieces). Plus the interior is just boring (a sea of hard plastic), partially because they replace all the buttons with IDrive, which I hate. Still, it drives and handles awesome. I'm test driving the E tomorrow, so if it can behave in the curves, it's mine.
I've been getting signs that the E is the right car for me (such as Formula 1 driver Juan Montoya announcing this week that he's leaving the BMW team to join the Mercedes team) . . .

If you get the chance, try the E500 with the airmatic also.

2004 E500 4MATIC SPORT
Just to answer a earlier post.
You can get the 4matic with the sport package. Will be receiving mine in Late Dec or Early Jan. We need the 4matic up here too much snow.

For you guys that have just taken delivery w/Appearance package, please post whether you received the "Sport" badges on front panels. I took delivery 2 weeks ago and did not receive them. Thanks.

2014 BMW 550i
My 2004 delivered at the end of October, but built in early September, looked like an 03. Full white gauges, sport emblems on the sides, and sport on the shifter.

If interested, you can buy the sport badges from parts and stick them on. I can't imagine them being that expensive.
