SL and E Class wheels

I know they are sometimes interchangeable. I was just offered a great deal on some wheels from a 1999 SL500 I was thinking as using for winter rims on my 2005 E500. The offset is the same, bolt pattern the same--the only difference is the SL rims a 0.5" wider.

Some on-line sites say the wheels will fit, others say they will not. Is there any sure way to know short of taking it to a mechanic? (If they are compatible, I may just have them shipped.)

Thank you.

If it will clear your calipers, it should be fine. .5" width should not be that big of a deal.

Thanks. I was hoping someone had tried the SL500 wheels on an E500. I guess my only option is to go to the seller and try fitting one of the wheels. Not looking like such a great deal any longer.
