Frank: I have no idea what you mean by the "dyno mode", that may be the problem with others as well.

Sorry

I will try to explain in more detail. Supposedly there is a submenu that can be reached by pressing a certain button for an extended amount of time where one can then see the exact oil level that is presently in the engine. So far I have only seen this on the C-class and was wondering whether someone could explain to me how to reach this menu in the W211 E-class.

Frank -

Scroll thru to the menu that gives you digital MPH it's a submenu there. do this with the engive off on level ground. When you get to the oil sub it'll tell you to turn on the ignition without starting the car.

I don't think Frank is talking about that menu. I only tells you that your oil level is "normal" or not.

He seems to say that there is a submenu, reached by holding down some button. There have been other posts suggesting that there is a "diagnostic" mode. I have never seen a post confirming this.

I vaguely remember something in tha manual that gets you into the service setup. I believe at the FSS menu you press the reset button for a prolong period which will bring this up.

Eddie,

You're correct about how to get into the Service Menu. I just took a look at it and didn't see any entries showing the exact oil level. The regular oil level check is supposed to tell you if you're down 1, 1.5 or 2 quarts of oil, so Mercedes may have removed the information Frank sees on C class cars from the Service Menu on E's.
