E55 AMG rims- Good deal?

This morning on my way to TWS (to get lowered) I got a call from a friend who owns a tint shop in Socal. He has a great relationship with one of the largest mercedes benz dealerships. In fact they exlusively use and refer all business to him. Any how, he has a friend who is in a similar situation but takes care of all of the after market rims.

Well he called me this morning to tell me he just rec'd a staggered set of E55 AMG rims with tires- Brand new. If I trade in my E500 sport rims (12k miles) + $1400 cash he will mount them. My buddy says it's a real good deal. I asked Sanders @ TWS and he agreed. Does any one know the regular cost?

Man, I love this forum with all of the ideas and photos- But it's going to get me in trouble. If I get these rims my fiance is going to trip out. I am mentally preparing for the dog house for the next few weeks.

As always thanks for the help

Get them. It's a good deal. The setup is about 3000 new at tirerack. If you can buy them as a takeoff pair, it would run you about 1800-2100. However, it's hard to come by. I've been looking for about 2 months, but I only want to spend at most 1800.

With this, it takes the hassle of selling your sport, which you can probably sell for about 600-800.

I'd be all over that like a cheap suit! My first choice was the Styling IVs in 18" but nobody had them when I bought my wheels...

It was too good to be true...we had a little 'lack of' communication. Wehn I arrived at his shop this morning he thought my rims were silver with brand new tires. He said he would need to re-chrome them again and put a new set of tires in order to sell them. With that being said the deal went from $1400 + my sport rims to $2k + my rims...needless to say, I past. If anyone is interested let me know and i'll pass on his number. he is in south orange county.

from what i've been told these rims are hard to come by at the moment...
