Just wanted to share..

Today I just got my car back from a service C plus I ordered a transmission oil flush (complete rinse/flush +filter) because it has been approx. 70000 miles since the last (and first) change included in the Mercedes service plan. And here in Europe Mercedes has changed their opinion regarding the "Sealed for life" and recomends a change every 60-80000 miles depending on the model.

So....

The gears simply shifts sooo much smoother now. I'll recommend this to everyone. I have always considered the 7G Tronic to be smooth, but over time and 100.000+ miles I did not notice this.

At first I just thought this was something mental, but my the misses noticed also. And I might add without having said anything about the service. "Did you do something with the gears"

Am I the only one noticing this?? Is there some reasoning behind this. Of cause clean oil but then again.

Um... I'm not quite sure what you're trying to ask here. What are you noticing? Oh and here in America, it's recommended that we flush the transmission every 40,000 miles! You seem to have been 30,000 miles too late!

Ooh not asking anything really. I see now that this should perhaps have been in the "what have you done for your w211 today" thread. Just wanted to share. And hear if anyone else had experienced this smooth shift after a gear oil change.

Strange though about the big difference in miles btw. uSA and EU. Perhaps related to the weather.

I thought tranny service was every 60k miles??? But to answer your question, no. I haven't noticed any change in shifting because I never let my cars make it over 60k from one tranny flush to the next. Also depends on your driving habits and outside temps. The harder you drive and the higher the outside temps are, the hotter your tranny oil gets. And the heat is was wears out tranny fluid faster. Tranny fluid will thicken with age. Maybe yours had gotten very thick and wasn't allowing the tranny to shift as smooth.

Yes this could be it. Perhaps it is just mental...

At least here in Denmark the tranny oil change has changed from:

1st change at 60000km (approx 40.000mi) then "Sealed for life"

To:

1st change at 60000km then every 100000km approx. 65000mi. Depending on model. +/- 10-15000mi.

Will try finding the paper MB send me from Holland (my car was originally from Holland then imported through Germany)

First change at 40K is understandable. But after the first, every 60K miles is the sweet spot IMHO. All of my cars (German, American and Japanese) have been done that way and I have never had a tranny go bad on me.

Well I'm okay with every 4 years or 40k miles as recommended by MBUSA. If it helps with the longevity of my transmission, I don't mind pumping out that $400 every 40k miles.
