Not sure what you mean by "not just the lens" The marker comes out as a unit, it has two clips, one on the front one on the back. You want to arm yourself wit two very thin flat screwdrivers, I use a screwdriver and a pick. Gently pry the back of the light out enough to reach the clip and then push the clip with the other screwdriver towards the front of the car. It'll pop out

I play it safe and don't risk damage to the paintwork: The couple of times I've completely replaced side markers, I removed two plastic wheel liner retaining screws, one halfway up the front and one on the bottom (there are two parts to the screw). Turn wheels in appropriate direction to give you access to front part of wheel liner and plastic retaining screw. The partially removed wheel liner provides access to side markers' housing from the rear. Compress protuding marker clips (towards front and rear of marker retaining shell) with nose pliers to disengage markers from retaining shell.
It sounds complicated but is really easy and safe.
