Anyone know how to disassemble the W211 start shift knob?
I've got this shift knob that we're going to wrap in carbon fiber. I need to get it apart so I can get the wood bit off. So far, no luck and I don't want to break it.
Any thoughts?

These end tabs appear to compress somehow, but its difficult to get them in:

Me attempting to squeeze them in while taking a photo:

Also, these grooves here make me think it might screw off once the tabs are depressed:

Placing a socket over the tabs on the bottom and a little bit of a twist and it popped right out. Once the collar is off, the wood slides down and off easily.
Now we can get the wood wrapped in carbon fiber.
