how to remove chrome inserts on trim??

I want to wrap or paint the metal/plastic inserts on the waistline trim. The silver/chrome pieces.

I dont want to damage anything - I cant seem to remove them. Do they just pop out or is it required to remove the trim and pop out the inserts from the rear?

Thanks

Pretty positive they pop out, the rear bumper ones should pop out pretty easily if you work into it. But I would suggest Plasti-Dipping it while they're still on there and tape the edges so it doesn't get on your paint. And if it does get on your paint you can of course just peel it off.

Plasti-dip only works if applied in multiple layers. Overspray doesn't typical land in layers. Anyway, I have used it before and it is low on my list of choices.

Plasti-dip is not the answer for me but I appreciate the comment. I found some black chrome wrap material that I am going to try but I really need the "chrome" pieces out of the plastic trim to wrap it properly.

I have seen some pics of the back of the trim piece and it looks like they might have some sort of retention feature keeping them from popping out the front easily.

I was hoping there woudl be someone who has already done this.
