Sirius retrofit - help diagnosing issue
I called Sirius and added to my account, but the activation did not work, so now I am thinking my issue must be 1 (or more) of 3 possibilities:
1- the box I bought of eBay is bad - but I am thinking this is unlikely given the fact that everything else in the loop is ok and I get what appears to be a message one would expect to authorize new service - anyone know if this is a good assumption?
2 - faulty antenna? I unplugged the antenna entirely and still receive the same message about authorization of service, so I can't tell if the box knows if the antenna is working? Should it without service activated? Perhaps I crimped the antenna cable when installing? I inspected the cable and it does have a bit of a crimp in it, but the wire does not appear broken.
3 - I have seen reference for some other people's installs/ the official MB instructions that they had to have the dealer "code" the SDAR into the loop using "SDS" (I think that's what the MB diagnostic computer is called). - since I got the message about setting up Sitius service I am thinking I don't need to code in, as I can already see it, but maybe this is a bad assumption? Would like to avoid a dealer trip / $,but if the collective wisdom is I must, then I must.
Any advice on where to start most appreciated!
