mercedes e350 2007
local shop dispute

It's a long story only read if you mind helping me out.

So i have a 2007 e-350 with 80k miles, and i got the codes p0016 p007. So i took it to a local shop that has been open for 50 years (i'm not saying that they are top notch but should be reputable) so they said that the balancer shaft was ground down so gave me a quote on the repair. Then i told them what needs to be done several times, oil pump, balance shaft, timing chain. so after they did the repair they never replaced the timing chain, after i told them to several times. So after they did the repair the shop took it for a test drive and brought it back to the shop and said now that it wont start. They told me there was oil in the ecm and mass airflow sensor. I said screw this took it to Mercedes Benz, and they told me that that shop didn't ground my engine..and it was very likely that by my engine not being grounded it fried my ecm and mass airflow sensor. Anyways Mercedes Benz proceeded to tell me that i still have missfire codes on the timming on left bank. Then Mercedes found out that the timming chain was bad and that it was an obvious fix. Long story short the local shop didn't even fixx the problem and now caused damage to my vehicle. ( it ran perfect before the repair and afterwards Mercedes Benz of beaverton said it ran llike hell and would barely even drive)
SO my main question is can i take that local shop to small claims court to get my money back? And does anybody have any information on what would happen if the motor is not grounded.

ALWAYS pay with a credit card.

Small claims court is your second option to get your money back.

Stop payment on your Credit Card and explain the situation. Second option as said - small claims court assuming you already discussed this with them.

I don't understand this "engine must be grounded" thing at all.

It would be interesting to hear what the shop that originally did the repair has to say about it.

Yes, you can take them to small claims court. It would probably be a waste of time, although they may offer to make it right, you probably don't want to let them work on it again.

Best of luck to you.

It sounded to me like they left off a ground strap, but I am guessing.

Mercedes Benz of Beaverton? Are you in Portland/Oregon?
