My E long range trip

Hey everyone,
just took the 'new' E for her first long range trip - 1k miles each direction.
2 adults + a teen and a fully loaded trunk she made incredible range, about 100 miles farther than my old C.
The C would get about 400 per tank, E gets 500.
Set the cruise for 78 during most of the travel, averaged 67MPH/26.5MPG with the the AC running about 50%.
Rolled her over to 60k while on the way back.

Greeted an older gentleman with a killer new silver CLS550 (4MATIC?) in the smoky mountains Friday around noon who said he had owned BMWs before.
Perhaps he posts here? =)

The storm across Indiana on I65N Saturday morning kept vision pretty low most of the time.
Like the AWD a lot.

Now for a slight annoyance - when using the defrost, after a few seconds the temp flips to HOT which is very uncomfortable to me.
My C never changed the temp when using defrost - can STAR address this?

Still impressed with the upgrade each and every time I turn the key.

Back to the Klipsch Reference... =)

My E has a much longer range than my C . The E is a real joy on long trips. It has a nice presence on the highway (if that makes sense).

The defrost is full heat with AC on in order to maximize the defrost and dehumidification capability. I'm guessing that since you felt it flip to heat the car was warmed up and running. Perhaps without the AC on causing it to fog up. I rarely turn off my AC - even in winter - and just adjust the temp it helps dehumidify the air. You can also turn up the fan speed as it starts to fog, or manually set something close to defrost with less heat.

I will say that at speeds over 75 for long periods the climate control can act funny. I think I read somewhere that it struggles to get fresh air in. This is usually an issue in hot weather with the car struggling to cool.

We do a regular 800 miles drive.
One quick stop is all we need.
The range and comfort can't be beat.

OUCH!

We get 20 MPG around town, (Which means driving about 60 MPH on rural roads.

Wife gets about 25 and I get about 24 on the long runs. (Interstate between 75 and 85 MPH. (Sometimes with a roof box)

4-Matic also, but few people ever pass me in the long run.

Let me know where you are driving so I can stay out of your way.
