WALD LED DRL install

Hello all, thought I'd share the results of this lovely install with the help of a couple buddies. I bought this WALD kit from a forum member for OEM e63 or the suvneer e63 bumper. The existing fog light mount had to be cut off in order for this kit to install which means I'll have never have fog lights again with this bumper. Not too bummed out though because it looks way too awesome. The other LED kits on ebay and such for non-amg seem to just bolt on no problem without chopping off fog lights unlike this one. Since I didn't do most of the install, I don't know 100% of the details to it. Power is drawn from cig lighter fuse so it's on whenever key is turned. Tapped into part of the side marker light for the brown ground wire. There was a 3rd wire in there which I have no idea what purpose it serves. It might have been for dimming while headlights on but I decided to keep my lights max brightness 24/7 because it looks waaay better. I'd also like to mention that my buddies thought this kit was such bad quality that they couldn't believe WALD made them. I'd say no matter what we did, it's about a 90% fitment with a few gaps here and there, which aren't very visible once installed (thank goodness). Anyways here are a couple pictures with my crappy phone. It looks much much better in person. Thoughts?

After

Provides pretty decent lighting too, doesn't make me miss fog lights too much

Looks good! Is there a w203 (C32) option on these?

For the price these are going for I am very surprised to read that quality sucks. Interesting...

Looks great homie, definitely a more modern look that the traditional circular fog lights. I'm surprised you don't miss the output of the 55w fogs though, even my 35w HID fog lights are really bright and useful, so these must have pretty comparable output then.

Looks awesome! Really updates the overall aesthetic and reduces the overabundance of circles/elipses on our front ends. Wondering if you get a dash error when you try to activate the non-existant fogs with this mod...

I don't believe so but I'm sure you can custom make it like this guy here for another w211.

Yeah..it's definitely a step back in terms of light output but I'm really enjoying these LED's and it's new overall look though.

Well I guess the trick here is to never turn them on so I'll never get an error

I'm not very versed on the subject of this car's electrical, but what prevents you from powering them from the original fog light wiring to where they will function and turn on in a similar manner? I would think it would be possible to wire in some type of current step down.

There's nothing wrong with using the fog light wiring or side marker wiring for power but that'll mean having to turn on parking+fog lights to turn LED's on. My goal was to turn them on as soon as I turn my key fob, similar to that OEM look, so I went with the cig lighter fuse route.

Lol I am just so in love with these things. They look spectacular not dimmed at night with HID's and look even better when I'm watching it come by from a few blocks away.

There are distributors here in America but they mark it up to an absurd $700. Not quite worth it.

that looks really cool mate! I remember reading a thread about a guy customizing DRL's for the 211, one design was longer than the other. I just cant remember if it was from this forum. I would love to add that on my upgrade but probably not the Wald due to price. great job!!!

Yeah they're FTP something something on the forums. I think around $150-200 USD for em. You could always make your own pair of LED's at a much lower cost!

Hmmm, now youre making me think. What do you suggest mate, buy a set of LED lights and customize the grille? That wouldnt be a bad idea.
