well, flash upgrade to radio didn't work

had my car in yesterday for phone disconnecting and radio static/can't shut off etc. A minute after getting into my car yesterday to go home, the phone disconnected. Did it 3 more times in a 10 minute ride home. This morning I start to hear static. It gets louder, shut the radio off, display goes off and radio keeps playing static. So, nothing was fixed. I love MB and this car, but Jesus, the quality sucks. The sad thing is that i'm amazed now when everything is working right. "Hey the radio worked today", or "I was able to make a phone call today". I'm almost used to going to the dealer now. I guess it's part of ownership.

Sorry

Hi,

sorry to hear all that. Maybe they should replace the audio gateway. I think this helped on several cars here.

Don't have the phone but had the same audio problem across FM, AM and CD just this week. The system completely lost control of itself. No control over volume, turning off, etc. and it wouldn't stop until I had restarted the car twice. System has now worked fine for 2 days. Another appointment in a week which is 3 times this month for service.

This happened the day after the dealer reinstalled the software and replaced the microphone. This was in conjuction with replacement of a leaking transmission gasket which maybe/maybe not caused the transmission to briefly disengage. Couldn't communicate with Tele-aid because the audio started acting up almost immediately afterward.

I am getting seriously depressed on how many posts about problems/annoyances I have responded to today. This was my first and definitely my last MB.

CTE430 - see my response on your "Phone Disconnecting...." thread. Just trying to keep one thread per topic. I'll update that thread when I get my answer today.

A thought

FWIW, I had static on my CD changer (post purchase install of the Mercedes unit in the dash) and the dealer eventually figured out that they had crimped the fiber optic cable during the installation. This created the static. They owned up to it and replaced the unit, although I still suffered through four visits to the dealer to get things right.

Good luck. Their explanation was the car is so new, they are still learning about it. I kind of buy this since Mercedes can only test so many things and their engineers probably never thought to crimp fiber optic wires to see what might happen.

C'est la vie.
