Audio Problems - no sound on drivers side
MY Harmon Kardon w CD Changer (non Nav) has a strange problem I am curious as to other experiences
When i am listening to CD's (mps based -that i burned myself) at a fairly loud volume for more than 5 minutes, all of the sudden the entire Left (drivers side) chanel goes dead...so its just the passenger side that has sound/power..
If i turn the unit from CD to FM and shut it off for about two minutes, it resets and its fine.. This has happened twice now..again only when listening to CD's as i was this morning..
ANY THOUGHTS??

This also happened to me when my audio went crazy. Had not reappeared since they reloaded the software but my wife says the sound is now unbalanced when she sits in the passenger seat even though my settings were unchanged.
The other symptoms/problems of overpowering static and losing control of ALL functionality - including the ability to turn off - have reappeared intermittently. A new feature has now appeared. After changing disks, display counts out first few seconds of the first song (but no sound) and then resets and starts playing normally.

it could be my homemade cd's .. it manages to reset itself...after a minute or two switched to FM mode..and shut down..

Try playing commercial CD's only for a while. If no problem with them I would suspect your copied CD's.
I play a lot of copied and compiled CD's and have not had any problem on either the replacement or the pre-nav.

The MBCA "Star" posted a technical note to dealers a few months back that all CD problems must be demonstrated on commercial CD's, not homemade ones. As Ed posted, try to duplicate it on commercial CD's before you make your service visit.
