Don't do these stupid things

I'm not saying that I did this... but do NOT hold a high pressure car wash nozzle really close to any plastic part of your car.... Even if you really hate those super stuck on dead bug bodies that just wouldn't come off with any cleaner you tried

By the way... has anyone tried one of those "plastic bumper repair" places, or the DIY stuff (
Amazon.com: Bondo 806 Easy Finish Epoxy Bumper Repair - 1 oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: Bondo 806 Easy Finish Epoxy Bumper Repair - 1 oz.: Automotive
) or would it be easier or less painful to just replace the headlight washer cover?

MY guess would be to just replace it. It shouldn't be too hard to pop it right off. Lol no one should EVER hold a power washer that close to any part of a car unless it's the wheels..

Clay bar should work well on those bugs, and woln't gash your car.

Water is strong enough to carve granite...

Have you tried QuickDetailer? I've always had good luck removing anything I want with it.

Were you afraid to touch dead bugs? If you are planning on replacing that washer cap then you're going to need to remove your front bumper. Next time you wash your car make sure you get it waxed and polished so, any crap that sticks to your front bumper can easily be removed by just doing a quick wipe.

A water jet can actually cut through steel and is used for precision cuts.

OUCH.... OOOoohh.... Gachhhh!

Okay... yes it was me.... I wasn't paying attention, and let the nozzle get too close/sit too long.

I was well aware that jet streams of water are used to cut very hard things.

I was actually hoping someone would post an anecdote of something "stupid" that they did so I would feel less alone. ;-)

Although I wash my car a lot, I'm not one to spend the time "detailing" it myself. I'll find a detailing shop / person, and pay them to do it. My time costs too much to spend it doing this manual labor. ;-)

The car has a bitty scrape on the rear bumper, so I'm going to have a guy that I've had do work for me before fix both. What I'm wondering now is if I should have him do his thing before I have the car detailed..... pretty sure that's best.

I'm also going to get info from a bunch of detaliers in the area and find out what process and products they use. One thing that I'm looking for is a place that waxes/polishes then seals, as I want that nice long lasting water sheeting effect. I hate those little beads of water that just sit there almost as much as those durn dead bug guts!

You shouldn't hold it close to the wheels either - many styles are painted.

Keep the car clean (it doesn't need to be detailed, just clean) by washing it frequently. That's the best way to reduce these kinds of accidents. Don't let the bugs sit there and bake on for too long.
