Help me upgrade this beast.

Recently purchased a 2007 E63 with low miles and in impeccable condition. So far I've deleted the resonator and that's it.. I would like to spend whatever it takes to make this car the best and fastest '07 E63 on the road.. Any advice??

Serious Question: If money is no object, why did you buy a 07? Why not buy a brand new one?

My guess is because new one doesn't have a 6.3L engine - just a little 5.5L.

1. Get a tune. (Hear good things about OE, Eurocharged, and Weistec)
2. More Exhaust work - Full tube headers cat-less
3. Supercharger from Weistec.
4. Wider tires (Order them in bulk)

Why would you spend money on "getting a tune" on a NA engine is beyond me. You'll get maybe 5-10hp, which probably won't be even noticable. I'd like to think that engineers at AMG already know how to tune their NA engines to get optimal amount of performance out of them. In the end, they get more than $500-$1000 to do so.

If money is not an issue, throw out that 6.3 NA engine, put in a twin turbo V12 from an S/CL600, put in bigger turbos, tune THAT engine, then you'll have a real "upgrade".

Here is an E55 with the V12 tuned motor:

^^UMM if you want to unlock the horsepower from the headers and supercharger you are going to need a tune, or do think the stock programming is going to handel that.

You also don't know much about the M156 if you think a tune alone is going to get you 5-10HP.

Here is the current fastest Mercedes Benz in the world. It has an M156 just like the OP's E63.

I commented based on you putting the tune at the top of your list. You're right, I'm not familiar with M156 engines, but I read forums and talk to people who own AMG cars. Even they say that advertised power gains are highly improbable.

Read this so that you don't think that I pull things out of my a$$:

This is not rocket science here. I highly doubt that AMG limits their engines and leaves aftermarket companies room to develop 50-60hp more by simply adjusting ECU. If that were the case, I'd say AMG owners were being ripped off and they should file a suit. If you want to believe marketing campaigns, be my guest...

I've yet to see a naturally aspirated engine gain serious power numbers just by tinkering with ECU.

Sure, once you add headers, forced induction, exhaust, you will want to get a tune to get the best bang for your buck. But like I said before, buying an ECU tune on a NA engine is a waste of money IMHO.

I bought it because it's basically brand new (less than 20K miles) and got it for a steal of a price. Also, other than the 2002 CLK55 the E63 is my fav Merc.
