The COMAND unit in my 2004 E500 with Nav is acting up, and I was wondering if I could do a like for like replacement without needing a STAR. If I got the exact same unit off eBay, is it a plug and play replacement?

Really? Everything I've read suggests that as long as the new unit is from an HK car it will work. Do I need it to enable linguatronic?

I've replaced mine several times. I first bought a EU model that allowed DVD video, then I ended up selling it cause I never watched it. It was plug and play. Then I bought a refurb unit from MB for 400. They've all been plug and play with not a single issue.
