C/S button
Can anyone tell me what the C/S button on my 2007 E Class does in more detail?
I usually have it set on S, but should I change this for motorway driving etc and does it have any affect on fuel consumption on either setting.
Thanks for reading.

The S stands for Sport. The transmission works through the entire range of gears and shifts at generally higher RPM's than when it is set at C.

Also, when you're in the C comfort setting and you're backing up, it's a little bit of work for car, as transmission at this point starts in second gear.

Should there be any throttle drag while in C vs. S? Most automatics don't provide for engine braking to any great extent, but mine seems to act more like a standard than an automatic, even in C mode. Just curious, as it's my first Mercedes.
When you let up off the gas, it engine brakes, as opposed to coasting along.

This should only happen at low speeds, is normal and is supposed to help driving in "stop-and-go" traffic conditions. My understanding is that it's not engine braking. It's the hydraulic brake system automaticly being lightly applied.
