Mercedes dealer wont give me info
I am trying to get service history on the E55 I just purchased and the dealer said it wont give it to me since I did not own the vehicle during that time.
I am blown away, maybe someone here can shed some light on this policy.
I asked how am I to know the condition of my vehicle they have sitting in their computer. They said I could have them go over my car and tell me. I then said what are you going to remove the fuel filter to check if it is good? Of course not, your going to look in your system and tell me it is fine because it was replaced 5 months prior. So essentially you will allow me to pay you for the info. I asked can I pay for the info, they refused.

As an independent dealer - I know all too well how MB will not release the service history of a car. But WHAT most mb dealers WILL do is diligently report when a car is serviced to carfax.
If a car is dealer serviced, the service should be on carfax. Date, mileage, and systems serviced. This should give you the cliffs notes.
Please tell me you didn't buy an amg car without a carfax.....
Take care,
George

In that case chances are all that's been done is the scheduled maintenance. Service a,b,c etc... I have an 04 e500 wagon and the mb dealer reported doing the front airbags, control arms, tires, etc along with the recommended maintenance.

I had a similar issue when looking for my e550. Ended up having a buddy that was a master tech at a mercedes dealer pull the stuff for me. The local one more or less told me to take a hike in not so nice of words. They will never see a dime of my money either.

Yep, they treat VMI's like they're medical records. All they need to do is mark out identifying info. I would love to have a VMI on mine.
