08 Wagon folding down rear seats
Hi folks, I've been obsessing about this all morning, searching the web for photos and posts and still don't have an answer. Hope someone here can help. I have a 99 wagon with 300k miles and looking to replace it. When folding down the rear seats to set up the back deck, you pull the rear seats up flush against the front seat backs, then fold down the rear seat backs. If you want, you can easily remove the rear seat cushions, they are very light and pull up and out for even more room behind the front seats. Love this. Is the 2008 wagon set up like this? Or do the rear seats stay put, and the seat backs fold down on top of them? I looked at a 2011 wagon that was the latter configuration and first of all I couldn't afford it but also I didn't want the rear seats like that. You lose space and have about a 15-degree angle there, not a flat deck. Please tell me that the 08 is like the 99, and I can have nice things like Bluetooth and automatic rear hatch closing and not have to look for another W210. I love my 99 but want some modern features on my next wagon!

I have an 04 W211 Sport Wagon and it does have the same removable rear seat cushions as my 98 W210 Wagon. But that is before the facelift and I do not know if the facelift removed this feature for cost cutting purposes. You are right that this is a great feature, s I have been able to load things in my wagon which would not have fit, had it not have the removable seat cushion.

I looked at the car in question and played with the deck set-up and satisfied myself, that yes, on the 2008 wagon the seat cushions do fold forward, and they are removable. Which is exactly what I wanted. So I bought the car. It's Silver with Ash interior, keyless go, cool headlights, 4Matic, leather, Sirius, nav, wood steering wheel, etc. I took it to my mechanic and it needed wheel alignment, which I did, and also a steering position sensor is going bad so that part is ordered. Other than that, it's awesome. My large dog crate, 30" high, doesn't fit in the 2008 wagon and barely fit in the 99. So that's a bit of an issue since I do dog transports, but I can probably find a 28" crate that will fit. The car has 79,000 miles on it. Last week I drove it for 11 hours on the highway and it was great.
