E320 CDI in the US
I also heard that the current US diesel fuel contains high sulfur. By 2006 it will be as good as European diesel fuel. If this is the case, does MB need to modify their diesel engine to adapt to US diesel fuel?
Thanks,

Yes, the E320 CDI will debut in the spring of 2004 as a 2005 model. It will have a turbocharged 6 cylinder engine featuring electronic fuel injection and new common rail diesel technology, which supplies constant fuel pressure to each of the injector valves. It will only pass current 45 state emissions standards, but should pass all 50 states when low sulfur diesel fuel becomes available in 2007. The ratings are 201 hp and 369 lb-ft torque.
