Radio Question
On my previous Mercedes, using the steering wheel to toggle thru the radio would browse the preset stations.
On the E, even though I have presets there, using the steering wheel will scan all stations (Im probably doing something wrong or there is some setting that needs to be made)
Any ideas ?

Yea this is a real PITA, a work around (for those that have it) is to use voice commands. For me it works - you can either remember the frequencies or program in the station name.

The thing I don't understand is that the C-class loaner I had for a few days allows for this radio preset option in the "convenience menu". Why would they have de-featured this in the E-class. Being a software person, I have to assume that they must derive the software off of the same base code, so why would they have intentionally removed this feature from the E-class?

This has been my biggest gripe with my car. It seems like a small issue but in a $60k+ car it is unacceptable. My dealer tells me that a software update will be available to fix this, I don't know if I believe him. Has anyone else heard anything?

Using the tel-aid system, I posted this question to them --- after putting me on hold to double-check it was revealed that this feature was removed from the 04 E's. She said she wasnt sure why.
Bummer.

I'm really suprised -- what was MB thinking when they took this feature away. It's one thing to have never had it but to conciously make the decision to take it away ???
Does anyone know of an email or post we can make suggestions to MB -- perhaps we can all build up enough revolt for a change.
