CEL on - then off - weird one
2006 e3504m, approx 95k mi on the odo. On two separate occassions over the past 3 days, upon brisk acceleration from stand-still, CEL illuminates and car starts running very rough. Still runs, feels like it's missing on a cylinder. Yeah, I know ... it's an M272 engine (balance shaft) ... but here's the weird part. At the next stop light or stop sign, I just shut the car down, and restart, and the CEL is no longer on and car runs perfectly. I have an OBD scan tool, and it's not even picking up a stored code. ????? I'm thinking, maybe one of the coil packs is starting to go and is acting up? But wouldn't that (misfire) store a code? Any ideas anyone? Hate to take it into the dealer cuz you just KNOW they're gonna want to do the balance shaft!!! Pretty certain though, that the CEL + codes for that are permanent once they show up, so I don't think that's what I'm up against. Thanks for anything, all.

Out Of Control!!
My guess it that all the beer bottles rolling around in the trunk has created an "ultra static generation field" and that field has engulfed your car---Two or three things have been reported to happen next next---you will be required to get a 30 day subscription of Viagra---Two, your sole mate will start drinking much more beer to replace the broken bottles in the trunk--Three--you may need a new rear seat!!

Just finding an indy MB shop is not the issue. The issue is after finding a so called MB shop and you ask them if they have factory or equal diagnostic equipment---and their response is delayed or they can't tell you what diagnostic equipment they do have ---run away because you will not be pleased with the results.
If in fact you do have the "shaft" issue, well you will really be shafted at a so called indy!!

Do you know of a "Good" indy MB shop that does not have the diagnostic equipment?

CEL came back on.... stayed on this time. Codes were P0355 and P0300. Bad ignition coil on cylinder 5 apparently. I'd like to thank Plutoe for his input. Huge help.
