Replacement Subwoofer for W211
I am looking for a shallow mount infinite baffle subwoofer that can mount in the stock location (no cutting or hanging low in the trunk). Can someone recommend a decent subwoofer please?
Any one try JL Audio M10W5-SG-TB? or Kicker CVT122 (10CVT122) or Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 (I am sure this one fits) ? Not sure if all these will fit.
I will be powering via Audison LRx 5.1k amp from NTG 2.5 head unit. I will also be replacing all the speakers at some point with Focal K2Ps that I have sitting in a box. Not looking for huge thump .. just better bass than stock.
... yes I have searched pretty thoroughly for the answer to this question - searching on "subwoofer" but so many options and none really answering my specific question. Some posts are really old too .. I am sure technology has moved on since those posts. Thanks!

Well since no help was given here I decided to just pull the sub myself. The sub measures 10" in diameter and ~3 inches tall. There are several JL and Pioneer shallow mount subs that will fit in that location. Going to try one out.
In the removal process, I read other people's comments on how to remove the sub. People mentioned difficulty removing the headrests. I tried to remove with a screwdriver pressing the release button, I couldn't get it. If using a punch as the service manual recommends, they pop right out easily. The tough part was the trim that covers the holes where the headrests go in. They just don't seem to want to pop out. Also those C-pillars are not so straightforward and rather fragile. I broke a plastic tab getting one side out.

Please post pics. I am in the process of replacing the entire sound system and would like to know which sub fit. Trying to keep it stock looking with the exception of the new head unit.

It has been a rather troublesome experience.
The sub was shipped twice and both times it was broken when it arrived (poor packaging). I then decided to get it from another supplier.
I bought a JBL MS-10SD4 SLIM 10in Dual 4-ohm. (Make sure you get the slim as there are two of the same model number but the other one is like 4 inches or so). This can replace the stock sub in the stock location. It will not fit into the plastic shroud that the original sub fits into so you need to fit directly to the deck itself. Added some deadener to make the deck more rigid and bolted the subwoofer in.
I am still finishing it up as I am now away on business travel but initial results are good. I'll try to post pics when I get back States side.

I ordered an Earthquake SWS-10x on Friday. Not sure about how it sounds but it is so shallow that it should fit as a drop in to the original sub location without modification. I receive the sub this week and will have it installed next week.

I just might have to look into the JBL as it is cheaper than the SWS and a more well known brand.

Thought I would post back. After two replacements due to shipping mishaps and travel for business, I finally got this installed.
1. Removed the stock subwoofer. It is a solid plastic molded subwoofer. I am surprised it performs as well as it does with it being plastic and all.
2. I tried to mount the Pioneer subwoofer in the original plastic shroud but it just simply would not fit even with grinding the shroud back.
3. Added sound deadener to the rear shelf to make it as solid as possible.
4. Added some rubber around the edge of the subwoofer, drilled holes to secure sub to the rear shelf.
Thoughts:
With stock Amp, it worked OK but didn't give me the kick I needed. The Pioneer sub is fairly solid construction compared to the original that it replaced.
So I added an amplifier to the trunk as below (5 Channel). It made a HUGE difference. The stock speakers are actually surprisingly good with the amp. Love the new bass I can get now.
It is like night and day .. wish I did this a long time ago!
It doesn't hit as hard a box sub in the trunk, but it does a very decent job. I am happy with it!

If you read my post above, I have stated it did not give me the kick I needed and installed Audison Amp. You won't notice much improvement with stock Subwoofer Amp. Your money would be better spent getting a subwoofer amp and using stock subwoofer.

If I get TS-SW2502S4(300w rms) or MTX FPR10-04(300w rms), I can install then with free-air? In the manual from MTX, they recommend a box... (
