My first problem....so I thought

Coming home last night I pull into the garage got out of the car and pressed the button on the door handle to lock the door....it wouldn't work. Thought it might be just a glitch so I went to find my key FOB to lock the door and couldn't find it in my pockets. I drove home using Keyless Go and didn't realized I left my key FOB in th center consol. Took the key FOB out of the car and pressed the button on the door handle and it locked the doors. Nice little feature so not to lock your key inside your car.

100 miles and no problems so far.

wait...............it even gets better!!!!

if you try that, look at the MFD, it will say key recognized in car or something. then if one of your doors is open, it will flash red and tell you which door is open, and if you start the car with keylessgo, but take out the key and drive, after a couple minutes it will say key not recognized. also, if one of your windows is down, hold one of the locking buttons when you exit and they will close, samething as the key, but with keylessgo. its a very safe feature, and cool of course

I'm glad you guys find the KG feature useful. But I still prefer having a key on me at all times when driving a car. It just assures me that I know where my keys are!

And there's nothing quite like the "magnetic suction" that occurs when inserting your M-B key into the ignition - quite kool IMHO.

Actually, almost all owners here are happy and would want a different car. We have had polls on here that confirm that.

What happens is that most of us use this forum to talk about things we notice on our cars....and the problems are, of course, talked about more than the good and fun features.

There are a few people who seem to have all the problems that come up and they are not happy campers.

For the most part W211 owners would not trade their car for anything else.

Not too long ago, my wife went with me to pick up our other car after having the tires replaced. Since I drove, I had the keys in my pocket, left the engine running and forgot to give them to her. As she started to drive away the "key not recognized" message appeared. She honked, I gave her the key and all was fine.

Since then, I have wondered what would have happened if I left the tire place ahead of her. Would she have been able to drive the car home or would it have stopped after a while?

Regarding Keyless Go, I thought I was going to get the Credit Card when the salesman said they are now all integrated in the key. When did this change?

They went to the key system from the card system in 2004. Some 2003 had the keys as well.

As for the other question, once the car is started with KG, it will run fine, even with out the key/card transponder until you shut the engine off. Once off, it will not restart wihout the key/card transponder.

Lionhead, I would not try this again....my first week with the car, myself and 3 of my employees were heading to Houston for a business meeting. As we were leaving (car off), I put the keys in the car and ran back into our office to get something I forgot. My employees were standing outside the car waiting for me and one of my employees was playing around, and pushed the lock button on the door handled and the car locked...with the keyless go FOB inside!!!. We were locked out, and since I had not activated the teleaid, it could not be remotely unlocked. Had to get a ride back to my house to get the other key fob to open the car....we barely made it to our meeting. So don't always count on it not locking because the key is in the car...

abhansali: I know what you mean....best is to use the key fob to lock the doors.

Also...thanks for mentioning teleaid...I forgot to activate it.
Going to activate it right now.
