Wood Armrest

I was looking into getting the wood center armrest. I've seem them in pics but pics doesn't do justice. Anyone have them or seen them in person? How does it look, how is the quality and fit and finish? Does the color match the factory wood? Is it just 3M tape (overlay) over the existing armrest? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Very nice indeed. Any idea of the shipping costs and also...what does "easy mounting" really mean. Do you know how it is attached?

I found a local vendor by me who's selling it for $159. Not sure what the forum rules regarding posting vendors so I won't mention who. I know some forums if you post a vendor that is not a supporter of the site you get banned. Eventhough some don't like it...it's really the right of the website/forum owner.

How does it attach LH...? Does it replace the leather one or is it applied over the leather?

Email me the local vendor info in Chi with a URL (if on the web) or phone #. Have you seen their product for Black Maple and does it look as good as the German one?

Thanks

I bet this is the vette side rubbing off right?

Oh yeah, you can post the vendor of the site, we're not like bmwm5.com or anything, it's real laid back here, just make sure they aren't counterfit or anything that our sponsors might get mad at.

Geesh..tell me about it...one of the reason I left the Vette scene was because of some of the peeps that you deal with.

I'm sure some of you have heard of this vendor but here is the website regarding the armrest:

http://www.formymercedes.com/e-class_w211.asp

***I've never dealt or bought anything from them yet but will be soon***

I've seen the formymercedes.com link quite a few times, I think the sponsers are okay with it, I just wish they'd become a sponser for mbworld.

Guys... here are some info...

I deal with Jerry at formymercedes.com all the time. He's a good guy and gets things fast -- no probs with his company.

As for the armrest, I ordered them for my W211 E55 awhile back and much to my disappointment, they are held by stick-on adhesive backing that sticks to the leather. A dry fit of the product confirmed my greatest fears -- it did not look flush or "proper."

Maybe I'm just too much of a perfectionist or too **** but I bought a similar item from Schaetz (www.schaetz-tuning.de) for my CLK430 and the wood armrest that I bought for the W208 is a complete replacement of the factory armrest, hence the entire thing is wood, unlike the W211's "wood" armrest.

If you guys want better quality wood accessories, check out MP design products that you can order through performance producs (www.performanceproducts.com).

Considering the wood/leather steering wheel from MB is $705 through the parts dept...this price for the armrest isn't too bad....and you probably get more wood than the steering wheel.

So true, Mercedes does overcharge, but hey, you do get the tri-star, that's gotta be worth something!
