Facelift pre-facelift
Hi,and sorry if this was mentioned before..but googled it for ages now and couldnt find the 100 % answer.
So i bought 2006.06.29 mercedes e220 125kw Facelift model.
But after reading few posts i came across that this may be not original facelift but a pre-facelift 'dressed up' with bumpers,,steering wheel gear knob and the rest of a facelift model...
I have lights,bumpers,steering wheel,gear knob alll look facelift.But i read somewere that if vin contains letter a-this is pre facelift,if letter b-facelift..so mine has letter a in it..thats why i stared to doubt..
anyone can give any tips how to be 100% sure what model is mine?

Facelift
Pre-facelift.
Pre-facelift is up to 2006, facelift is from 2007-2009. The pre-facelift W211 is more rounded in the front, with slightly different head lights. The rear lights also have two divided white areas versus one, and the chrome strip is smaller than on the facelift W211.

mine is european and made 2006.06.29 and looks exact like facelift...but here in europe people tend to put bumpers,lights..and the rest even change a bonnet..so the car looks like facelift..thats why i asked..if there are any other difference thann just what we see at first sight..as everything looks like facelift,but vin has a in it..thats why i started to doubt..

If 2006.06.29 was the build date, it can very well be a 2007 facelift model. My car was built on something like May of 2006 but was sold as a 2007.
One possible difference that you could look at is the a/c climate control system. I believe the 07-09's have a digital temperature gauge where you press a red and blue arrow button to increase/decrease temperature, where as the pre-facelift models has a dial or knob to twist around. I doubt very many people would go through the trouble to change the a/c unit.

yes i noticed that some pre-facelifts have blue/red arrows also..so i wouldnt bet on this..althought mine has dial knobs..or what u call them..but i have seen facelifts with same ines like mine..my mirrors are new shape(not round)
Like everything looks 99% facellift...but vin has A in it..and i read somewere that facelift has to have b letter not a..

Also, I believe that was the year the u shaped center grille on top of the dash went from slats to a screen type grille.
