Question E-class leg room

I am thinking about buying a new E-500 but looking at the specs the leg room is about the same as my Acura CL-S, and I drive with the seat all the way back.
I would like a couple of inches more of leg room in the front but I notice even the S class leg room is about the same as the E-Class. The only luxo-cruisers with more abundant leg room that I have seen are the Q and the Lexus. I am 6'3 and don't want to feel cramped in my newest car since I have been driving coupes a long time.

Are these specs on the leg room correct, Is there enough leg room in the front seats of these vehicles?

Thanks in advance

SOOO... if you are 5'6 and like the seat back that far does that mean that I am in trouble? I am referring to the amount of leg room in the front not in back ( I have 3 little rug-rats with short legs that would be doing the back seat riding)

You can move the front seat waaaaaaaaaaaay back. You should have no problem.

Rear seat room is very dissapointing and noticeably more cramped than the W210.

I'm 6'1" and I have plenty of room. I do keep the seat all the way back unless my kids are back there. Even then it isn't too bad. I do wish the back seat had more leg room even if that meant a little less trunk space.

The S class has more legroom by far than the E Class. I dont think your information is correct. I sat in the back of the E class and was unimpressed. The E430 had better room.

Can somebody tell me even how they calculate front leg room. I read these spcecs in detail on all these cars and there does not seem to be much dif between the larger luxo cars and their smaller bretheren. I must be missing something.

I am going to make a point to sit in all these cars at the Detroit auto show coming up.

Legroom is measured from the backrest of the reat seat to the rear of the front seat, I seem to recall they use midway-position for the front seat. The '98 E was 36.1, the '03 is listed at 35.6, one half inch less. The concave shape of the center of the rear of the front seat is used by some manufacturers to inflate the number. I don't notice any problems with mine or get comments from rear passengers.

e class legroom

i have friends that are your height that drove my car with the seat all the way back leaving very little room in the back seat(even for kids) I suggest you go to a dealer and try it out for yourself (you might even want to go with a truck)

I am 6'4, and I fit fine. I'm selling my M3 due to lack of room in general. No problems with leg room or head room. Actually, I can even move the seat up a bit. Definately do not pass this car on driver head and leg room.

when i first got the car, the seat did not move far enough for my liking (i.m 5'10" and like when my leg is not bent when I drive). After a week, I took it to the car wash, and when I got it back, the seat somehow moved ALL_THE_WAY_BACK, I could not reach the pedals :-). It did, however, leave about 3 inches of space in the back (not kidding). I am not sure whether there was a stopper they had accidentally removed, or what, but now it certainly has plenty of space in the front.

I am 6'4" and have plenty of room, both leg room and head room. I have the seat all the way back, but it's not uncomfortable to have it moved forward a little if there is someone behind me, which is rare. Part of what makes this car comfortable for me is the steering wheel and the fact it tilts and telescopes as much as it does. That helps my knee to not hit the bottom of the wheel. Comfort in an automobile is always a big factor for me and this is one of the most comfortable cars I've owned. Definitely go test drive one and I think you'll be impressed.

All Acuras are front wheel drive, except for the NSX.

Front wheel drive does not require a driveshaft going down the middle of the car to the rear differential. That is why front wheel drive cars usually have more room than rear wheel drive cars.

I am 6'4" with a 36" inseam and I not only have plenty of leg room in the E, I still could move my seat further back. My only issue with the seat is I would prefer to have it a little higher at the distance that I have it from the dashboard.

I rented a Toyota Avalon last week and that car has plenty of rear seat leg room. However, I and couldn't get the front seat to go back far enough. If I could have moved the seat in the Avalon as far back as I normally have my seat in my E320, the Avalon's back seat leg room would have been less than my E!
