Electrical & Control wires for W211 2006 model
A fire which started from beneath drivers seat resulted in all the wires and seat being burnt. Suspect fire to have been started by seat control motor overheating. Actual cause yet to be determined. The incident happened about 5 months ago (reported in this forum) and the car is still with the insurance company. The insurers have undertaken to do the repair at their designated workshop (not Mercedes workshop). The have informed me that Mercedes do not carry these parts and that they say that it is obsolete. The insurance company is now sourcing for a used part. It is strange that Mercedes do not carry these parts (partr no. A2114407505) although the car is only 8 years old!

If it is just wiring, they are probably looking for a section of the wiring harness they can cut-in to replace the burnt section.
This would be a perfectly acceptable repair (of course not to MB or many MB owners satisfaction).
In reality it is probably a better repair as pulling the entire harness would mean a lot more disassembly and reassemble with the opportunity for error.
